Graphene in Europe

On 2 June Jerzy Buzek MEP opened the workshop organized by STOA (Scientific and Technical Options Assessment Panel of the EP) on Graphene in Europe: From Nobel Prize to technology, innovation and industrial competitiveness. Professor Konstantin Novoselov, Nobel Prize holder in physics (2010) was a special guest of the event.
J. Buzek reminded that graphene could be a breakthrough in many areas, from materials and photonics to energy and medicine. "It is a technological revolution in which Europe can play a major role - which is why the European Graphene Flagship Initiative is so important. Bringing graphene from laboratories into industrial applications is a huge challenge – but also huge opportunity for economic growth and new jobs." – Buzek stated.

Jerzy Buzek hosts First Europe-U.S. LNG Roundtable

On Wednesday, 27th May 2015 Jerzy Buzek hosted in the European Parliament the First Europe-U.S. LNG Roundtable.

High-level policy-makers and business representatives from both sides of the Atlantic discussed political and legal aspects of possible trade in natural gas, also in a wider framework of global energy security, the Energy Union and currently negotiated Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP).

“Worrying events in European Neighborhood reminded us about our heavy dependence on energy imports…. Our response to those challenges is the Energy Union – including diversification of external suppliers, sources and routes… It is hard to find a more natural and reliable partner for energy cooperation than the United States,”– said Jerzy Buzek.
