Knowledge for innovation

On 14 May 2015 Jerzy Buzek attended the PECSA's International Scientific ConferenceFacing the Challenges in European Union.Re-thinking of EU Education and Research for Smart and Inclusive Growth (EuInteg). The Warsaw School of Economics hosted more than300 politicians, MEPs, representatives of EU institutions, entrepreneurs and scientists.The conference was a continuation of the project initiated in 2011: "European Integration Process in the New Regional and Global Settings (EUintegRATIO)”. One of the main goals of the conference was to stimulate and integrate young scientists and other professionals involved in European issues from Poland and other Eastern Partnership countries.

Jerzy Buzek, as a Special Guest, addressed the audience on the topic of Knowledge for innovation – key to Europe’s relevance. In his speech Mr. Buzek focused on the significance of training and education systems - integrated at EU level - that prepare researchers, innovators, but also consumers of innovation, and highly-skilled workforce. Moreover, he pointed out the necessity of integration of European research institutions into research clusters and the importance of encouraging European firms to invest in innovation.

Mr. Buzek emphasized: “Understanding innovation in such a holistic, systemic way is what I call knowledge for innovation”.
