How shall we respond to the challenges facing the EU, including the most recent and pressing one - the results of the UK referendum? How shall we bring the EU closer to the citizens and restore their trust in our European community?

On 1 July, Slovakia began its 6-month presidency of the EU Council. In this context, the above questions were discussed on 29 June in the debate “European Agenda under the Slovak EU Presidency” organized by Hanns Seidel Foundation and Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies at the Representation of Bavaria to the EU.

Jerzy Buzek was a speaker in the debate together with Mikuláš Dzurinda, president of the Wilfried Martens Centre and former Slovak prime minister, Slovak EU ambassador Peter Javorčik, and members of the European Parliament: Eduard Kukan - former Slovak minister of foreign affairs, and Ivan Štefanec. The debate was opened by Prof. Ursula Männle, President of Hanns Seidel Foundation and moderated by Czech diplomat Karel Kovanda.
